Awkward moment Donald Trump shuns Keir Starmer in front of world leaders

At the Gaza peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, Keir Starmer found himself in an awkward moment after being seemingly overlooked by Donald Trump.

World leaders had gathered on Monday to discuss the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas, with Trump delivering a speech praising various nations for their involvement in the peace process.

As the U.S. president spoke, Starmer stood just behind him when Trump asked aloud, “Where is United Kingdom, where’s our friend?”

Turning around, Trump spotted the British prime minister and beckoned him forward for a handshake. The brief exchange saw Trump asking if “everything is good” with Starmer and remarking that it was “very nice” he was there.

However, the friendliness was short-lived. Trump quickly turned back to his audience, continuing his speech without mentioning Starmer by name.

Left momentarily stranded, the Labour leader returned to his spot, his expression revealing his discomfort after the abrupt interaction.

The incident wasn’t Trump’s only odd moment during the summit — he was also seen sharing a strange handshake with French president Emmanuel Macron and making an offhand remark about Italian prime minister Giorgia Meloni, calling her a “beautiful woman.”
