Kanye West Demands People Stop Using His ‘Slave Name’ And Use His Real Name Instead
Kanye West — or Ye, as he now insists on being called — has once again sparked public debate over his identity.
The Grammy-winning rapper, famous for his bold statements and controversies, is urging everyone to stop using what he calls his “slave name,” Kanye West, and instead address him only as Ye.
Recently, his chief of staff Milo Yiannopoulos sent letters to major media outlets and streaming services, reminding them that Ye legally changed his name in 2021.
According to the letter, “Ye didn’t take this decision lightly,” emphasizing that he’s willingly letting go of the enormous brand recognition built around his former name.
Fans are sharply divided over the move. Some express support for his choice while questioning his behavior. “I respect people’s names, but I can’t get behind his antics,” one commenter wrote. Others believe his message comes from a place of deep meaning that’s often misunderstood.
Ye himself has explained that the name represents his faith and unity with others. “It’s the most used word in the Bible. It means you,” he said. “I’m you, I’m us.”
The artist first hinted at this transformation in 2018 after releasing his album Ye, proclaiming, “I am YE.” Now, years later, he’s ensuring the world doesn’t forget it.
