Senate Confirms Anne-Leigh Gaylord Moe as Federal Judge
The U.S. Senate narrowly confirmed Anne-Leigh Gaylord Moe, President Donald Trump’s nominee for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, with a 53–46 vote on Tuesday. The decision marks another key judicial win for Trump’s administration as it continues to shape the federal judiciary.
President Trump praised Moe’s confirmation on Truth Social, calling her a “strong and principled advocate for law and order.” He highlighted her prior service as a Judge on Florida’s Second District Court of Appeal and as a Trial Judge in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, commending her dedication to justice.
Republicans celebrated the confirmation as part of Trump’s broader effort to appoint conservative, constitutionally focused judges, while Democrats criticized her record as overly conservative, particularly regarding criminal and immigration cases.
Judge Moe brings over 20 years of legal experience, having served as a state appellate and circuit judge and previously as an Assistant State Attorney in Tampa. Colleagues describe her as fair, detail-oriented, and committed to due process.
The narrow vote reflected sharp partisan divides in judicial confirmations, with Republicans unified in support and Democrats voicing concerns about her alignment with Trump’s judicial philosophy.
Moe’s appointment adds to the growing number of Trump-appointed judges, continuing his influence over the federal courts, especially in Florida, a politically pivotal state.
She will soon assume her duties in the Middle District of Florida, presiding over major civil and criminal cases, with her rulings expected to have a significant impact on regional and national legal issues.
