Liz Warren Totally Loses It after Trump Meets with Mamdani
President Donald Trump met with New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani in the Oval Office, a meeting where Trump reportedly eased the self-described democratic socialist with humor and light remarks. The encounter triggered an intense reaction from Sen. Elizabeth Warren during her appearance on CNN’s The Lead on November 21.
Jake Tapper opened the segment by pointing out Trump’s recent harsh stance toward Democrats after they shared a controversial video urging military members to ignore his commands. He also noted Trump’s clashes with reporters and his comments connected to the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
Tapper contrasted Trump’s combative behavior with his calm, courteous approach during Mamdani’s visit, asking Warren how she reconciled the two sides of the president—one provoking outrage, the other presenting himself as focused on affordability.
Warren launched into a sharp critique, arguing that Trump embracing affordability is ironic, claiming he struggles with the issue himself. She said he failed to deliver on promises to lower prices and insisted his poll numbers show he is “in trouble.”
She continued by attacking his policies, arguing that Trump’s tariffs increase costs and that his energy agenda has raised utility prices nationwide. She said Mamdani is now being linked to solving Trump’s economic problems.
Warren added that Trump is trying to appeal to young voters by aligning himself with Mamdani’s affordability messaging.
She ended by accusing the president of trying to “borrow” Mamdani’s credibility, while Tapper described Trump as attempting to adopt an “avatar of affordability.”
