Campbell’s give major update after executive was caught in shocking recording saying their soup was for ‘poor people’

A Campbell’s executive has been dismissed after a leaked audio recording allegedly captured him making offensive, profane, and racist remarks while criticizing the company’s own products.

The recording surfaced amid a lawsuit involving Martin Bally, Campbell’s vice president of information technology. Former employee Robert Garza accused Bally of misconduct and inappropriate language during a meeting in Michigan.

Garza, who was terminated in January, claims his firing came after he reported Bally for using racist slurs during a November 2024 meeting. The released audio also includes Bally allegedly mocking Campbell’s foods and suggesting they contain “bioengineered meat.”

In the recording, Bally reportedly calls Campbell’s soups “highly processed” and says he would never eat “a piece of chicken that came from a 3D printer.” Campbell’s strongly rejected these claims, calling them “patently absurd.”

Garza said he recorded their conversation while discussing his salary. During that meeting, Bally allegedly insulted Indian employees by calling them “idiots” and dismissed Campbell’s products as food “for poor people.” A portion of the recording aired on Detroit’s Local 4 News.

As the audio spread online, Campbell’s announced Bally’s immediate termination, stating that his comments were unacceptable and violated company values. The company emphasized that Bally worked in IT and had “no involvement” in food production.

Campbell’s apologized for the remarks and reaffirmed confidence in its food quality. Garza is pursuing financial compensation, alleging he was wrongfully fired shortly after reporting Bally’s behavior.
