Trump’s Golf Trips Cost Taxpayers Outrageous Amount as He Makes Fresh Boast

Donald Trump, an avid golfer and now serving his second term as U.S. president, has reportedly accumulated massive taxpayer costs through his frequent golf trips. He returned to the White House after defeating Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

Trump owns several golf courses and often plays with well-known figures, including Tiger Woods, Wayne Rooney, and Samuel L. Jackson. But new reports claim that his regular outings come with a hefty public price tag.

According to The Independent, Trump has already spent an estimated $71 million in taxpayer-funded golf travel during his second term. If he continues at this rate, the total may reach around $300 million by the time his presidency ends.

During Trump’s first term, these expenses reportedly amounted to $151 million. HuffPost noted that Trump’s recent 16th visit to Mar-a-Lago cost about $3.4 million in travel and security.

The outlet also reported that Trump made nine trips to his Bedminster, New Jersey course—each costing roughly $1.1 million—and one visit to his resort in Aberdeen, Scotland, which alone required almost $10 million in taxpayer funds.

Other presidents have also racked up travel costs for golf. A Government Accountability Office report showed Barack Obama’s 2013 golf outing with Tiger Woods cost taxpayers about $3.6 million.

Trump recently claimed he is a scratch golfer, boasting about beating a 27-year-old “plus-three” player and highlighting his 38 club championships. His comments drew criticism because they came shortly after two National Guard members were shot in Washington, one of whom, 20-year-old Sarah Beckstrom, later died. Authorities have arrested 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal in connection with the attack.
