‘Gotti’ Star Passed Away At 33
The entertainment world is grieving the sudden passing of actor Spencer Lofranco, known for playing John Gotti Jr. in the 2018 biographical crime film Gotti. Lofranco died Tuesday at the age of 33, his brother Santino confirmed in an emotional Instagram post shared by Page Six.
Santino paid tribute to his younger brother on Thursday, calling him “a legend” and writing that Spencer lived a life many could only imagine. He expressed deep love and heartbreak, adding the dates of his brother’s birth and death and signing off with “RIP” and Spencer’s nickname, “Bear.”
The post was accompanied by intimate photos, including childhood memories of the brothers together and more recent images of Spencer, one featuring him with his black dog.
TMZ reported that authorities in British Columbia, Canada, are investigating the circumstances of Lofranco’s death. No cause has been disclosed, and officials have not released additional information.
Born in Canada, Lofranco began acting as a teenager after attending the New York Film Academy. He quickly gained attention in Hollywood, appearing in seven films such as At Middleton, Jamesy Boy, Unbroken, and King Cobra.
His most well-known role came in Gotti, directed by Kevin Connolly, where he starred opposite John Travolta and Kelly Preston in a dramatization of the Gotti family story.
In recent years, however, Lofranco faced hardships. In 2018, he revealed in a YouTube video that he was homeless and living with his dog on the Venice Beach boardwalk, openly discussing the challenges and lack of privacy he endured.
News of his death has led to widespread tributes from fans and peers. Though his career was short, his performances—especially in Gotti—left a strong impression, and his family remembers him as someone who deeply touched those whose lives he entered.
