Jimmy Kimmel fires back with 2 scathing words to Trump after ‘disgusting’ remarks about Rob Reiner
Jimmy Kimmel and Donald Trump clashed once again after Trump’s controversial remarks about the reported deaths of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner. Trump’s comments drew heavy criticism for lacking empathy and responding to tragedy with hostility.
On Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday night, Kimmel directly addressed Trump’s online statement, in which the former president linked Reiner’s death to what he calls “Trump derangement syndrome.” The remarks spread quickly and were widely condemned, particularly within the entertainment community.
Kimmel criticized Trump’s response, saying moments like this require compassion and leadership, qualities he argued were completely absent. Instead, he described Trump’s comments as rambling and insensitive during a time of mourning.
He then read Trump’s Truth Social post aloud, highlighting the harsh language used toward Reiner even while offering condolences. Kimmel said he initially thought the post was fake because of how extreme it sounded.
According to Kimmel, Trump later doubled down during a press conference, expanding on his criticism of Reiner and accusing him of damaging the country. This only intensified the backlash.
Kimmel responded sharply, warning viewers about the consequences of such leadership and encouraging people to reconsider their political choices, stressing the importance of accountability.
Other late-night hosts also reacted to the tragedy. Stephen Colbert opened his show with a somber message, avoiding politics and emphasizing respect for loss. Meanwhile, police confirmed Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead at their home, and their son, Nick Reiner, remains in custody as the investigation continues.
