FBI Received Rap.e Allegation Against Donald Trump During Epstein Probe
The U.S. Department of Justice has moved to clearly separate President Donald Trump from allegations appearing in newly released records connected to Jeffrey Epstein, after online circulation highlighted a rape claim that the department says is false.
In a social media statement released alongside the latest batch of Epstein-related files, the Justice Department said some documents include “sensationalist and untrue” claims submitted to the FBI shortly before the 2020 election, stressing that these allegations lack any factual basis.
According to reporting by People, the specific allegation appears in an FBI intake note from October 2020. The document contains a second-hand account claiming a woman alleged she was raped by Trump and Epstein, but it is not a sworn statement and includes no supporting evidence. Federal officials described it as unverified.
The file release has renewed attention on Trump’s past social association with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. However, the Justice Department emphasized that inclusion in released records does not equal proof and warned against misinterpreting raw investigative materials.
Officials also pointed to other documents in the release that they say are fraudulent. Reuters reported that a card allegedly sent by Epstein to Larry Nassar was deemed fake by the FBI, citing handwriting inconsistencies and a postmark dated after Epstein’s death.
The Justice Department stated that if the allegation against Trump had any credibility, it would have surfaced politically long ago. It further said none of the released materials accuse Trump of criminal wrongdoing.
While Trump’s past interactions with Epstein have long been documented, the Justice Department maintains that the claim driving renewed attention is baseless, reiterating that public disclosure does not validate the contents.
