Dolly Parton postpones events as she continues to focus on her health
Dolly Parton, one of America’s most cherished entertainers, has recently reduced her public appearances to focus on her health following medical advice. At 79, she has been honest with fans about dealing with manageable health issues, prompting concern but also widespread support.
In recent weeks, Parton missed two major events that would normally celebrate her career milestones. Although she could not attend in person, she shared heartfelt video messages, reassuring fans and expressing gratitude for their continued love.
One event was her induction into the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Hall of Fame, honoring her impact through Dollywood. In her message, Parton explained that doctors advised her to slow down temporarily, though she wished she could attend.
The day before, she was also absent from the Academy’s Governors Awards, where she was set to receive an honorary Oscar. Once again, she addressed fans directly through social media, maintaining transparency and easing speculation.
Health concerns first grew in September when Parton postponed her Las Vegas concerts, now rescheduled for September 2026. She emphasized the delay was precautionary and not a sign of retirement.
Speculation increased after her sister shared a post asking for prayers, but Parton soon clarified she was managing routine medical matters. These included a kidney stone and infection, compounded by delayed self-care while caring for her late husband, Carl Dean.
Now resting at home in Nashville, Parton is surrounded by family and maintaining light routines. She has made clear she is not stepping away permanently, viewing this pause as a necessary reset rather than an ending.
