Ransom Note Claims Nancy Guthrie Is ‘Safe but Scared’ Amid Kidnapping

A ransom message linked to the reported abduction of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of television host Savannah Guthrie, claims she is “safe but frightened” and aware of the demands connected to her release. The note surfaced through media outlets two days after she was reported missing.

According to reports, the message demanded millions of dollars in bitcoin and warned of severe consequences if payment was not made. It also stated the kidnappers would not continue negotiations, presenting the demand as final.

Commenting publicly, TMZ’s Harvey Levin said the letter indicated Nancy understood the situation and that authorities were taking the threat seriously as time passed. The urgency has increased pressure on investigators working the case.

Certain details in the note suggested she may still be near her Tucson home, including references to her Apple Watch and a damaged floodlight on the property. Some of this information had not yet been publicly released.

Because the message contained specifics consistent with investigative knowledge, officials considered it potentially credible and contacted law enforcement after reviewing it.

Authorities say multiple ransom notes sent to media organizations are being treated as possible leads, though it remains unclear whether all contain identical details or deadlines.

Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie and her siblings continue asking for proof their mother is alive. Investigators believe she was taken from her home overnight, with key timeline clues including a disabled doorbell camera and the loss of connection between her pacemaker app and phone early Sunday.
