UPS driver goes viral after sharing his weekly paycheck

The “Great Resignation” may have slowed, but a new shift—often called the “Great Paycheck Pivot”—is gaining attention, with delivery work unexpectedly at the center of the conversation.

That spotlight intensified when Skyler Stutzman, a driver for UPS in Oregon, shared his weekly paycheck on TikTok. The post quickly went viral and revealed earnings that surprised many viewers.

In the video, Stutzman showed he worked 42 hours at $44.26 per hour, earning about $2,004 before taxes and taking home roughly $1,300. The figures sparked widespread discussion online.

Many users compared their own salaries, especially those in degree-required professions. Some expressed frustration or disbelief, noting they earned less despite years of education and experience.

However, Stutzman later explained that his income reflects years of effort. It reportedly took him nearly six years to secure a full-time role, followed by several more years of gradual pay increases.

He also pointed out that many drivers begin in warehouse positions before advancing, and the job itself is physically demanding, making the career path far from easy.

Stutzman said his goal was transparency and to highlight union impact. Backed by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, recent contracts improved wages and conditions, with CEO Carol Tomé noting top drivers could eventually reach total compensation around $170,000.

Quite the ‘s’kerfuffle I’d say. UPS Chief Fincancial Officer Bryan Dykes and Teamster president Sean O’Brien sharing their point of view on this situation regarding UPS relationship with Amazon as well as the 20,000 Jobs that are at stake; UPS Center closures. Quite a lot going on. upsdriver
