Man Charg3d After Sh00t!ng Near Vance Motorcade Route

A man has been charged after a shooting near the Washington Monument that happened shortly after Vice President J.D. Vance’s motorcade passed through the area.

According to court filings, Michael Marx, 45, of Midland, Texas, was seen walking near the motorcade route before officers approached him. Authorities said he fled, pulled out a firearm, and fired during the encounter.

A juvenile bystander was injured, but officials said the injuries were not life-threatening. Officers returned fire, and Marx was taken to the hospital.

Federal authorities said Marx faces several charges, including assaulting officers with a dangerous weapon, discharging a firearm during a violent crime, and illegal firearm possession. Officials also said he was not legally allowed to possess a firearm because of a prior conviction.

Investigators have not publicly confirmed whether Vance was a specific target. The incident has still raised serious security concerns because it happened near a high-profile government route in Washington, D.C.

The shooting came shortly after another reported security incident connected to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, adding to concerns about threats around major political events.

For now, the case remains under investigation as officials continue reviewing evidence and security procedures.
