Each week, a young widow visited her late husband’s grave to water the flowers. As she left, she never glanced back. One day, a young man who had been watching her approached and said, “It’s admirable how much respect you show your late husband. I think it’s wonderful that you never look back as you walk away.”
The woman, who had married an older man primarily for his wealth, still made a point to visit his grave regularly.
Unable to contain his curiosity, the man remarked again, “You truly honor your husband’s memory. It’s lovely that you don’t turn around when you leave.”
The widow’s reply stunned him. “You see, my husband used to joke that my backside could raise the dead. I’d rather not take any risks,” she said.
