NBA legend refuses to stay in hotels
In early 2017, NBA legend Magic Johnson announced he would no longer stay at hotels owned by President Donald Trump. This decision came after Trump signed an executive order banning refugees and citizens from seven predominantly Muslim countries, which Johnson publicly criticized. He expressed concerns over discrimination and Trump’s leadership style, stating, “He’s got to learn that you can’t just be a dictator.”
Similarly, during the 2016-2017 NBA season, LeBron James and several Cleveland Cavaliers teammates chose not to stay at the Trump SoHo hotel in New York City. This decision was influenced by Trump’s controversial comments during his presidential campaign. The Cavaliers’ management accommodated these preferences by arranging alternative lodging for the players.
