Man returned home to land

Dr. Daniel Kenigsberg was stunned to discover a newly built four-bedroom house on a piece of land in Connecticut that he had owned for over 30 years. A friend informed him about the unexpected construction, and upon investigating, he found the land had allegedly been sold in 2022 for $350,000—without his knowledge or consent. The home was listed for $1.475 million and already had a buyer, prompting Dr. Kenigsberg to file a lawsuit against the developer, a Trumbull lawyer, and the associated law firm for trespassing, theft, and fraudulent practices.

Court documents later revealed the land sale was part of a scam involving someone impersonating Dr. Kenigsberg. The developer, Sky Top Partners, claimed they had no idea the sale was fraudulent and sued the lawyer and real estate agents involved. By spring 2024, a settlement was reached: Dr. Kenigsberg received an undisclosed sum, and Sky Top Partners secured the land title. They completed and sold the house for $1.45 million. Meanwhile, the FBI took over the investigation into the scammer, though no resolution has been announced yet.
