Boy Calls 911 to Ask For Help

Eight-year-old Ryan Crosby dialed 911 for help with his math homework after failing to solve it on his own. When the dispatcher realized he was home alone late at night, she became concerned. Ryan explained that his mother wasn’t home and that he had let himself in after school. The operator quickly traced his location, and officers were sent to check on him. Finding him alone, they attempted to reach his mother, Matilda, but her phone was off.

Soon, police tracked Matilda’s last known phone location to a deserted area outside town. A K9 unit led them to her car, where she was found unconscious due to heat exhaustion. She had passed out while driving to visit her sister and had no way to call for help because her phone had died. Thanks to Ryan’s 911 call, she was rescued and treated at the hospital. The incident highlighted the importance of teaching children to use emergency services and showed how listening closely to a child’s words can lead to life-saving action.
