Salma Hayek Just Recreated A Swimsuit Photoshoot From 20 Years Ago On Instagram

Salma Hayek just shared a throwback photo of herself from a 1999 European bathing suit ad and then recreated the shoot near her pool. Spoiler: She’s just as stunning and fit as she was 20 years ago, and it’s all thanks to her healthy habits.

“This photo is from a European bathing suit campaign I did for H&M in 1999,” she shared on the ‘gram Thursday. Then, she commented “of course” to an unknown question, but a quick scroll shows a fan’s request that she reshoot the photo: “Can you reshoot this pose now please? So much more lovely these days 😍😍😍.”

On Friday, she shared the reshoot, this time in a brown one-piece instead of a bikini. “2020: More than 20 years after my last post. Ready for the weekend! Have a great #Friday!” she captioned the follow-up pic.

So, how does this 54-year-old glamour queen stay so fit? Her former trainer Sara Shears told Shape that Salma prefers to keep her workouts around 30 minutes each, and she sweats it out five to seven days every week. Salma likes to mix it up and includes everything from Pilates to HIIT in her usual routine.

“We did a lot of kickboxing, dance type workouts with strength training, and ball work,” Shears told the publication. “We’d build up cardio and high-intensity interval training with exercises that really bring the heart rate up.”

Even when she’s not officially working out, Salma’s tuned into her muscles all over. “Some people have the discipline to exercise in the morning, and I didn’t develop that,” she told People. Instead, through a form of yoga, she activates all her body’s tiny muscles. “I work with a woman in London who taught me how to hold my body in a way where the muscles are activated all day long,” she said. “So even when you brush your teeth, you’re working the muscles.”

She also loves to walk her dogs around (presumably) the Pinault estate. “This is my version of exercise and these are my #dogs coaches … These are my trainers!” she wrote in one Instagram post. Overall, though, she told the New York Times that she doesn’t consider herself an “exercise person.”

As for her diet, Salma is a longtime fan of juicing. “When I feel stressed, I turn to food for comfort,” she explained on her company Cooler Cleanse’s website. “After doing a juice cleanse, I’m motivated to eat healthier and not emotionally. Cleansing is like my meditation. It makes me stop, focus, and think about what I’m putting into my body. I’m making a commitment to my health and hitting the reset button.”

Similar to her fitness philosophy, the star doesn’t follow diets. “It doesn’t matter what my diet philosophy is because I don’t follow it. I don’t have the discipline. I think it’s because of exhaustion. I really want to change,” she told the New York Times. She does limit her meat intake, though.

“The only thing I do is that I don’t eat animals every day. I eat all kinds of meat, but I consume it sparsely. I would never eat two meats in a day,” she told the publication. “Sometimes I go several days without eating meat, but then I’ll go back. I tried one time to go raw; my body hated me.”

Well, whatever she’s doing is clearly working!
