‘Reason why’ Prince William

Prince William has reportedly made a significant legal move by hiring the prominent UK law firm Mishcon de Reya, known for representing his late mother, Princess Diana. This decision marks a notable shift from royal tradition, as William is stepping away from using Harbottle & Lewis, the royal family’s long-standing legal team. Diana famously enlisted Mishcon de Reya, and specifically lawyer Anthony Julius, during her 1996 divorce from then-Prince Charles. Julius also played a key role in managing Diana’s legacy through the Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

At 42, William is said to be asserting his independence by turning to his mother’s trusted legal representative. Sources claim the decision is not linked to personal marital issues with his wife, Kate Middleton, but instead reflects his desire to chart his own course and break from his father King Charles III’s legal arrangements. A royal insider emphasized that the move signals William’s intent to modernize and take greater control over his affairs, stating, “He wants to be his own man.”
