The Queen made savage
The British royal family is expected to remain politically neutral, but the late Queen Elizabeth II once made a lighthearted remark about U.S. presidents during a 2018 documentary with Sir David Attenborough. While a helicopter disrupted their conversation in Buckingham Palace’s garden, she jokingly commented, “Sounds like President Trump, or President Obama.” Despite this, King Charles recently extended a second state visit invitation to Donald Trump, delivered by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer during a White House visit. Starmer praised Trump’s previous visit, while Trump called the invitation an “honour.”
This invitation follows Trump’s major policy announcement dubbed “Liberation Day,” where he revealed new tariffs on various countries, claiming it would mark the resurgence of American industry. In his speech, he emphasized reversing years of foreign advantage over the U.S. economy, vowing to “Make America Wealthy Again.” While tariffs are taxes on imported goods paid by U.S. importers, the move caused a drop in global stock markets. Trump addressed concerns by urging Americans not to “be panicans,” inventing the term to mock overreaction and encouraging strength and patience for a promised era of American greatness.
