Former Child Actor
Former child star Haley Joel Osment, known for his breakout roles in Forrest Gump and The Sixth Sense, was recently arrested at a California ski resort. Now 36, Osment rose to fame in the 1990s and earned several award nominations for his early work. He later transitioned into adult roles with projects like Tusk and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. Earlier this month, Osment was taken into custody for public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance at Mammoth Lakes. According to TMZ, ski patrol had already detained him before police arrived. He was charged, underwent lab testing, and was released shortly after.
The local district attorney’s office is still deciding whether to press charges. This is not Osment’s first legal issue. In 2006, he was arrested for DUI after crashing into a brick pillar. He later pleaded no contest to DUI and marijuana possession, resulting in probation, alcohol rehab, AA meetings, and a $1,500 fine. Reflecting on that incident in a 2020 interview, Osment called it a “terrible mistake” and insisted it wasn’t related to his Hollywood background. He also emphasized that many child actors actually have positive experiences, contrary to public belief.
