George Clooney and Donald Trump are locked in a public feud after the actor criticized Trump’s impact on media freedom. Clooney, a longtime Democrat, had previously urged President Biden to step aside for a stronger candidate. He recently warned on 60 Minutes that government pressure on the press is escalating. Trump responded on Truth Social, calling Clooney a “second-rate movie star” and “failed political pundit.” Clooney, however, dismissed the criticism during an interview with Gayle King, stating he doesn’t aim to please the president but to speak the truth, even if it draws backlash.
Trump continued his tirade, accusing Clooney of turning on Biden post-debate and pushing for Kamala Harris under supposed Obama influence. He mocked Clooney’s film career, calling him a “fake movie actor” and claiming he never made a great movie. Trump also accused Biden of destroying democracy through poor policies, including the border crisis and inflation, claiming Clooney had no real understanding of politics. Clooney, unfazed, stood by his views, asserting his right to speak out, just as critics have the right to respond.
