Shocking new Trump approval

As President Trump nears his 100th day back in office, his approval rating has dropped significantly due to controversial policies. Since taking office in January for a second term, Trump has enacted measures such as banning trans women from participating in women’s sports and the military, and approving major federal job cuts under Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency. Although Trump claims these changes aim to “Make America Great Again,” public opinion has turned, with a Pew Research Center poll showing only 40% approval—a 7% drop since February. Many Americans especially disapprove of his tariff hikes and funding cuts to departments like Education and Veterans Affairs.

Further backlash has come from Trump’s decision to freeze university funding, which 57% of Americans oppose, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. Harvard University, which has had $2 billion in federal funds frozen, has filed a lawsuit against the administration, arguing the move is unlawful and detrimental to crucial research. University President Alan Garber warned the cuts will severely impact studies on pediatric cancer, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s. The administration’s aggressive policy shifts have triggered legal challenges and growing concern over long-term effects on education and scientific advancement.
