Lip reader ‘reveals five
During Pope Francis’ funeral on 26 April, Donald Trump had an impromptu meeting with Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy at St. Peter’s Basilica, marking their first face-to-face since a tense White House meeting. Before this, Trump was seen speaking to France’s Emmanuel Macron. According to lip reader Nicola Hickling, Trump warned Macron, saying, “you are not in the right here, I need you to do me a favour, you should not be here,” with Zelenskyy reportedly nodding in agreement.
Later, Trump and Zelenskyy held a short ‘mini peace summit’ where Zelenskyy said he wanted action, but “not this way,” to which Trump allegedly responded, “It’s a very interesting strategy. You have reassurance.” A White House official described the meeting as “very productive,” and Zelenskyy tweeted about their promising discussion, hoping for significant results. Meanwhile, Trump faced criticism for appearing to break funeral etiquette by using his phone and disregarding dress code.
