60 Minutes gets ready to air shocking

CBS is reportedly preparing to air a major exposé on Donald Trump, raising concerns about corporate interference in journalism. Longtime 60 Minutes host Scott Pelley recently criticized CBS News’ parent company, Paramount, claiming it supervised political reporting, especially regarding Trump. Pelley linked this oversight to Paramount’s pending merger that requires approval from the Trump administration. He alleged that this pressure led to the resignation of executive producer Bill Owens, who felt his journalistic independence was compromised. While no stories were blocked, Pelley emphasized Owens’ integrity and dedication to fair reporting.

Trump has responded by suing CBS and Paramount Global for $20 billion, accusing them of election interference over an edited 2023 interview with Kamala Harris. Trump claimed the broadcast was manipulated to favor Democrats. The new 60 Minutes report, titled The Rule of the Law, is expected to detail Trump’s use of executive orders to target law firms he accuses of bias. Meanwhile, the FCC is investigating whether CBS distorted the Harris interview and is also reviewing similar complaints against ABC and NBC regarding pre-election coverage. Owens’ resignation letter cited corporate control as a key reason he could no longer lead the show with journalistic autonomy.
