Dick Van Dyke Reveals One Curse Of Living To 100

Dick Van Dyke, who recently turned 99, opened up about the unique challenge of living to such an old age: having to say goodbye to many loved ones. In a 2021 interview with People, he talked about the sadness of losing close friends like Ed Asner, and his wife, Arlene Silver, added that outliving everyone is “the curse of living to almost 100.” Despite these losses, Van Dyke maintains a positive attitude, saying, “Well, life’s been good to me. I can’t complain.”

Van Dyke also addressed the 46-year age gap with his wife, Arlene, 53. They met backstage at a show in 2006 and married in 2012, and despite doubts from others, they have a strong, supportive relationship. Silver noted that their marriage works well, even better than many same-age couples. Van Dyke, who credits his longevity to “genes” and “having a beautiful young wife,” shared that he stays active by hitting the gym three times a week, urging everyone to exercise to keep their bodies young and healthy.
