Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, originally from Chicago, took on the name Pope Leo XIV when he was welcomed into his new role on May 8. While moving through a crowd in the popemobile, Pope Leo caught a cloth doll thrown by a White Sox fan, which resembled his appearance when he first emerged on the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica.

Though many admired his impressive catch, others on social media pointed out a potential security lapse. One Twitter user commented on the adorable scene but noted that the security seemed to be lacking, while another worried about possible dangers in such interactions.
