Elon Musk blasts Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’ in scathing
Elon Musk has harshly criticized Donald Trump’s newly passed “big beautiful bill” shortly after stepping down from his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Musk, who served as a special government employee since January, called the bill an “abomination” on social media, condemning it for increasing the national deficit to \$2.5 trillion and accusing Congress of driving the country toward bankruptcy. The bill includes temporary tax cuts, such as no taxes on tips and a freeze on overtime taxes, while increasing military and border security funding.
Musk’s outburst may be fueled by recent setbacks, including the removal of EV tax credits that benefited Tesla, his statutory departure from DOGE, and the FAA’s rejection of his Starlink system. Additionally, Trump allegedly removed Musk’s ally Jared Isaacman from a NASA leadership role due to past Democratic donations. The bill also cuts programs like Medicaid and SNAP benefits, aiming to save \$1 trillion but potentially leaving 8.6 million people without healthcare. Despite Musk’s previous alignment with Trump, he now strongly opposes this legislation, which the White House defends, stating Musk’s position was already known and has no impact on Trump’s stance.
