Donald Trump reveals ‘terrible’ nickname he has for Melania that he says every night before bed
During a recent speech in Des Moines, Iowa, President Donald Trump celebrated the passing of his controversial “Big Beautiful Bill” and unintentionally revealed a personal nickname for his wife, Melania.
The speech took place on July 4th as part of a “Salute to America” event, commemorating 249 years of U.S. independence. Trump praised Congress for narrowly passing his bill, which includes massive tax cuts, increased defense spending, and expanded borrowing power for the government.
Despite opposition — including from former ally Elon Musk — the bill passed with a slim 218–214 margin in the House. Trump called it “the best birthday gift America could receive.”
While addressing military recruitment, Trump unexpectedly shared a detail about his relationship with Melania. He said he often calls her “First Lady” before bed, joking that it reminds him he’s the president.
He continued, “Good night, First Lady, my darling,” calling the nickname a personal boost and linking it to his identity as president. Melania is his third wife, following marriages to Ivana Trump and Marla Maples.
Trump also criticized declining military enlistment numbers and claimed his bill would help address the issue by strengthening the military with additional funding.
Wrapping up, Trump declared that the bill fulfills all the promises he made to Iowa voters in 2024, including cracking down on illegal immigration and cutting government waste and fraud. He hinted it will play a major role in the upcoming campaign.
