I thought it was just rice, but the truth turned out to be much worse
One morning, I woke up to find strange white grains scattered in my bed. At first, I assumed my husband had been eating in bed again and spilled rice. I was ready to brush them away, but something made me take a closer look. 😱
The more I examined them, the more uneasy I felt. These “grains” were tiny, oval, shiny… and then I noticed movement inside one of them.
Horrified, I grabbed my phone and searched online. My stomach dropped when I realized what I was looking at — bedbug eggs. 😱 Be alert if you ever see something like this at home.
📌 What I discovered: Bedbug eggs are about 1 mm long, white, oval, and shiny, resembling grains of rice. Females lay them in hidden spots like mattress seams, behind baseboards, and in furniture cracks. In 6–10 days, they hatch into larvae that feed on blood. While bedbugs rarely transmit diseases, their bites can cause itching, allergies, skin irritation, and sleepless nights.
📌 Where they come from: They can hitch a ride home in luggage after travel, arrive in second-hand furniture or belongings, or migrate from neighboring homes through cracks or ventilation systems.
📌 How to get rid of them: Deep clean your home, vacuum all seams, cracks, and joints. Wash bedding and clothing at 60°C or higher. Use a steam cleaner on mattresses and furniture. For complete removal, call professional pest control to prevent reinfestation.
If I hadn’t spotted those “grains” that morning, within a week my home could have been overrun by these parasites.
