With heavy hearts, we announce the passing. When you find out who she is, you will cry
Dr. Kimberly Nix, a respected Canadian physician and social media voice, has passed away three years after being diagnosed with metastatic sarcoma.
She became widely known for openly sharing her cancer journey on Instagram and TikTok. On May 8, 2023, a farewell video announcing her death was posted to her accounts.
“I’m done with my trip here, and I want to thank all of you so much,” the message read, adding that the support of her followers had given her strength. She encouraged donations to sarcoma research and asked viewers to follow her husband’s updates.
According to the Mayo Clinic, sarcoma is a group of cancers that begin in bones or soft tissues such as muscles, fat, and nerves. Once the disease spreads beyond its origin, it reaches stage four and becomes metastatic.
Dr. Nix’s final video, filmed as a “get ready with me” clip, began with her calmly telling viewers she had died peacefully. She spoke about her life, her medical career, and experiences such as attending Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour. Diagnosed at 28, she had been in her final year of an internal medicine residency.
Reflecting emotionally, she described her husband as the “love of her life” and expressed sorrow only that they could not grow old together.
She closed by thanking her online community and urging support for the Sarcoma Alliance, saying their encouragement gave her comfort and purpose in her final days.
