M*A*S*H legend has died aged 82

Actor Patrick Adiarte, best known for his role on the first season of the classic sitcom M*A*S*H, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 82.

Adiarte’s career stretched across stage, film, and television, where he made a lasting mark in both musicals and dramatic roles.

He rose to prominence with appearances in the film versions of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King and I and Flower Drum Song, showcasing his natural charm and talent.

Born in the Philippines, Adiarte later transitioned to American television, landing guest spots on popular shows such as Bonanza, The Brady Bunch, Hawaii Five-O, and Kojak throughout the 1970s.

In 1972, he secured his most memorable television role as Ho-Jon, the cheerful camp houseboy on M*A*S*H. Though he appeared only during the show’s first season, the character became a fan favorite.

Beyond acting, Adiarte was celebrated as a gifted dancer. He once performed on television alongside Hollywood legend Gene Kelly, who praised him as a possible heir to Fred Astaire.
