‘Real reason’ why Prince George was spotted in tears at Pippa Middleton’s wedding following ‘incident’
Tears at weddings aren’t unusual, but when Pippa Middleton married James Matthews in May 2017, all eyes turned to young Prince George after he was photographed sobbing outside the church.
The event was a grand affair, with royals and close family in attendance. Kate Middleton’s children, George and Charlotte, played special roles in the ceremony. George was a page boy, while Charlotte wore a sweet gown as a bridesmaid.
However, photos of George crying as he held his mother’s hand sparked questions. Many wondered what had upset the three-year-old at such a joyful occasion.
According to speculation on Reddit, Charlotte may have accidentally stepped on Pippa’s wedding dress, and George decided to imitate her. Kate reportedly noticed, gently pulled him aside, and scolded him. Not long after, cameras captured George in tears, possibly made worse by another comment from Charlotte.
Some sympathized with the young prince, calling him a “poor little guy.” Others, however, thought it was more likely a simple toddler tantrum. Parents online pointed out that small children often cry for trivial reasons, from being told “no” to even getting exactly what they want.
Reports at the time suggested Kate was photographed correcting George, and afterward he appeared to pout. The Daily Mail even claimed he had stepped on Pippa’s £40,000 gown, following Charlotte’s lead.
Since that day, the royal children have made countless public appearances. Luckily, the tears have long been replaced with cheerful smiles as they continue to charm the public.
