Charlie Kirk ‘Predicted’ His Own Death In Tweet 11 Years Ago
The investigation into the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk continued as authorities reviewed thousands of public tips, released additional images of a person of interest, and confirmed the recovery of a rifle believed to have been used in the shooting. Kirk, 31, was shot in the neck while speaking outdoors at Utah Valley University in Orem. The gunman reportedly fired from a rooftop before fleeing, and by Thursday evening, no suspect had been identified or arrested.
Security footage shows a slender, college-aged male ascending a stairwell to the roof minutes before the attack, later descending and moving toward nearby woods. Investigators recovered a high-powered, bolt-action rifle in the area. The FBI released still images and video of the suspect, urging the public to provide tips and submit surveillance footage. Utah Governor Spencer Cox emphasized the need for public cooperation.
Authorities reported receiving more than 7,000 tips and conducting nearly 200 interviews. Video shows the suspect leaving the roof, crossing a street, and entering a wooded area. The state intends to pursue the case as a death-penalty matter once a suspect is arrested. Motive has not been publicly discussed.
The attack occurred during Kirk’s “American Comeback Tour,” which encourages student debates. Video captured a single gunshot, Kirk slumping, and the crowd scattering. Investigators confirmed the recovered weapon was a bolt-action rifle but have not linked it to a specific model.
False information spread rapidly online, including AI-altered images, misleading crime videos, and fabricated arrest claims. Officials urged reliance on verified sources and cautioned against sharing unverified content, which could hinder the investigation.
Political figures condemned the attack. Former President Trump pledged a posthumous Medal of Freedom for Kirk, while others warned against using the tragedy for political gain. Vice President Harris visited Utah to meet Kirk’s family and accompanied his casket to Arizona.
Investigators continue to focus on forensic evidence, including fingerprints, shoe impressions, and DNA. Authorities emphasize that social-media posts, such as a 2014 tweet from Kirk, are not part of the investigation. The priority remains identifying the shooter, reconstructing movements, and securing the weapon trail.
