Latest FBI Evidence Emerges in Utah Shooting Investigation
The investigation into the fatal shooting of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk has intensified after the FBI released new surveillance images of a man believed to be linked to the attack. The suspect, seen wearing dark clothing, sunglasses, and carrying a black backpack, was captured on cameras inside a building at Utah Valley University, where the shooting took place. A \$100,000 reward has been offered for information leading to his identification and arrest.
The FBI’s Salt Lake City Field Office confirmed that investigators recovered a high-powered rifle believed to be the weapon used. It was discovered in a wooded area near where the suspect was last seen.
Alongside the rifle, forensic evidence including a palm print and shoe impressions was collected and is now undergoing detailed analysis. Authorities reported receiving more than 130 tips so far and continue to stress that even small leads could prove vital.
Witnesses recalled panic spreading through the crowd of nearly 3,000 people after a single shot struck Kirk while he was on stage. Many in attendance initially mistook the sound for part of the program before realizing what had happened.
Investigators noted the accuracy of the shot, suggesting the gunman may have had significant firearms training or experience, further complicating the case.
The FBI assured the public that all available resources are being used to track down the suspect. While the motive remains unknown, officials labeled the attack a direct threat to free speech and public safety.
National leaders, including President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, expressed outrage and offered condolences. Authorities continue urging the public to submit any information via 1-800-CALL-FBI or the FBI’s website.
