ABC Shooting: Suspect Targeted Bondi, Patel
Federal authorities have arrested 64-year-old Anibal Hernandez-Santana following a drive-by shooting outside ABC 10 in Sacramento, California. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 19, one day after a small protest outside the station. No one was injured.
Investigators later found a handwritten note in Hernandez-Santana’s vehicle. The note mentioned several public officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy Director Dan Bongino.
Authorities said the message indicated these figures could be potential future targets, citing concerns linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Variety reported that Hernandez-Santana’s social media showed frequent criticism of former President Donald Trump. In posts, he expressed strong opposition to the administration and indicated he was ready to “fight like hell.”
His attorney, Mark Reichel, suggested that Hernandez-Santana’s political beliefs were drawing extra attention. Reichel stated, “They’re going to say, ‘Boy, it sure shows that he’s liberal and left wing.’”
After being released on $200,000 bail by local police, Hernandez-Santana was rearrested on federal charges for interference with licensed broadcasts. He remains in federal custody.
FBI Director Patel emphasized the seriousness of the case on X, stating that targeted acts of violence are unacceptable and would be pursued fully. The investigation continues, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether additional charges will be filed.
