Man who vaped for 9 years issues terrifying

A Decade of Vaping

Raymond Dehn of Buffalo, New York, started vaping at just 15, easily buying products from shops that never checked his age.

By his late teens, his use had expanded to cannabis THC pens, a pattern that continued for nearly ten years.

Sudden Collapse

On September 13, while sitting in his car and vaping, Dehn was struck by an intense, stabbing pain in his back.

Only a minute later, while walking inside a mall, he lost consciousness.

Medical Emergency

At the hospital, an x-ray revealed his lung had collapsed unexpectedly.

Doctors’ Observations

According to Dehn, doctors couldn’t point to one clear cause but said his case resembled others they had treated.

“The only thing we all had in common,” he explained, “was vaping.”

A Warning to Others

Dehn spent four nights in the hospital with a chest tube before being discharged.

A New Mission

Now vape-free, he admits he still fears another collapse could happen at any moment.

Spreading Awareness

Dehn says that fear fuels him to warn others: “I want young people to understand the risks before it’s too late.”
