Put this in your house and you will never see flies, mosquitoes or cockroaches again

Kitchen Invaders

Whether it’s a fly buzzing around the fruit bowl or a roach scuttling under the sink, these pests can quickly turn a calm kitchen into chaos. Luckily, an easy and effective solution may already be in your home.

Why It Works

A combination of peppermint and mint toothpaste produces a strong scent that most insects dislike, including flies, mosquitoes, and roaches. Add the fizz of baking soda reacting with vinegar, and you create a temporary burst plus a lingering minty aroma, deterring pests from the area.

Making the Repellent

Mix 1 tablespoon each of mint toothpaste, baking soda, and white vinegar. Add ½ cup of lukewarm water and 5–10 drops of peppermint essential oil if desired. Stir until smooth, then pour into small shallow containers like jar lids or saucers.

Placement Tips

Position containers behind trash bins, near sinks and drains, by entry points, or in dark corners. You can also smear a thin layer along baseboards or behind appliances using a cotton swab.

Expected Results

Within an hour, the minty scent should start working. Flies and mosquitoes tend to avoid the area, while roaches, sensitive to the strong odor and fizzing reaction, often move on.

Maintenance

Refresh the mixture every 2–3 days, especially near doors or windows in summer. Keep surfaces clean and crumbs sealed, as no repellent replaces good hygiene.

Safety Notes

Keep repellents out of children’s reach. Essential oils can irritate skin and may be harmful to pets. Test surfaces first if applying directly, and remember this is a deterrent, not a full pesticide—serious infestations may require professional help.
