JD Vance Debunks Left’s Lies on Govt. Shutdown in Response to Breitbart’s Matt Boyle at WH Press Briefing
Vice President JD Vance criticized Democratic claims regarding the recent government shutdown during a press briefing on Wednesday, calling them “lies.” He addressed questions from Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle about two key Democratic assertions.
Boyle noted that top Democrats, including Kamala Harris, Chuck Schumer, and Hakeem Jeffries, claimed the shutdown was a Republican-caused event linked to former President Trump. They also argued that Democrats did not seek to provide healthcare for illegal immigrants.
Vance rejected these claims, insisting the shutdown was driven by Democrats. He cited voting records in both the House and Senate. “Nearly every House Republican voted to open the government,” he said, adding that the same applied in the Senate, with a few moderate Democrats joining them. “But nearly every Senate Democrat voted to keep it closed.”
He emphasized that the President was ready to sign legislation to reopen the government and only needed a few more Democrats to support it. “This isn’t a Republican shutdown—it’s obviously a Democrat shutdown,” Vance stated.
Regarding healthcare, Vance argued that Democrats included provisions granting healthcare benefits to illegal immigrants. He noted long hospital wait times and linked them to expanded access for undocumented individuals under the Biden administration, which reversed Trump-era restrictions.
Vance accused Democrats of misrepresenting facts, calling their claims that illegal immigrants were not receiving benefits “a lie, plain and simple.” He argued government resources should prioritize American citizens rather than illegal immigrants.
He concluded by highlighting the contrast, asserting Democrats were willing to shut down the government to benefit illegal aliens. Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) reportedly admitted that Democrats were advocating healthcare access for everyone, including those in the country illegally.
