On November 8, 1935, a boy was born who would later be regarded as one of the most strikingly handsome men of his generation. His name was Alain, and his birthplace was a suburb of Paris, about 80 kilometers from the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral.

Alain’s mother initially worked as a pharmacist, but when his father opened a cinema, she left that job to work as a cashier there. Unfortunately, Alain’s early childhood was marked by upheaval—his parents separated when he was only three years old.

Both parents eventually remarried, which gave Alain half-siblings on both sides. His stepfather worked as a butcher, and his mother also took a position in the shop. With little time for their son, the couple hired a nanny to care for him.

The arrangement meant that Alain grew up moving between two households. At first, he enjoyed the change, but later he confessed that it left him feeling as though no one truly wanted him. School offered no relief—he struggled academically and lacked discipline.

Known for mischief, Alain was expelled multiple times, forcing him to switch schools often. Eventually, he gave up on academics altogether and began training as a butcher, following in his stepfather’s line of work.

That training lasted only three months before Alain abandoned it for a job in a shop. His restless spirit led him from one occupation to another, never staying long in one place.

When he joined the Army, however, everything changed. Alain later admitted that military life helped him build character. After returning from service, he took on various jobs, including working as a waiter, before destiny pushed him toward acting.
