A Midnight Call: What Police
Just after midnight, the phone at a small police station rang. The dispatcher braced for a routine call, but instead, a shaky five-year-old girl’s voice came through.
She whispered desperately, begging for help. “Please… someone is in my room.”
When officers arrived at the house, the girl’s parents appeared embarrassed. They explained that their daughter often had vivid dreams and believed someone was hiding in her room.
But the child’s frightened gaze told another story. Clutching her teddy bear tightly, she pointed directly to her closet.
Two officers carefully stepped inside the room. The glow of a nightlight revealed little. At first, the closet looked empty—until a strange sound came from behind the wall.
It wasn’t the creak of old wood, but a deliberate noise. Investigating further, the officers uncovered a thin seam in the paneling. Behind it was a narrow crawlspace.
Inside the shadows, curled up, was a man who had secretly been living there for weeks. The intruder was removed, and the stunned parents finally understood—their daughter’s fears were real. Sometimes children sense dangers adults dismiss.
