Amber Heard Sums

Amber Heard summed up her relationship with Elon Musk in a cutting eight-word remark: “Elon loves fire, and sometimes it burns him.” The two began dating publicly in 2017 after Heard’s divorce from Johnny Depp, though rumors of a romance had swirled since 2016. Their relationship, described as long-distance and on-and-off, lasted over a year before ending in 2018. Musk admitted to being deeply hurt by the breakup, saying he was in “severe emotional pain” and struggled to appear composed during major public events at the time. Despite efforts to maintain their connection across continents, their demanding careers eventually pulled them apart.

Musk’s friends and family, especially his brother Kimbal, reportedly disapproved of Heard, believing she was toxic and emotionally harmful to him. Biographer Walter Isaacson noted that Heard drew Musk into a “dark vortex,” and that the pain from their split lingered for years. Musk himself described being a romantic fool, still hoping to find a lifelong companion. He admitted to feeling lonely, saying that being alone in a large empty house was unbearable for him, even though he now has 14 children with four different women and remains single.
