Blood-Stained Glove And Rock Discovered In Desert Near Nancy Guthrie’s Home
An Arizona couple says they discovered what looked like blood-stained gloves and a rock with a dried blood spot in the desert near Nancy Guthrie’s home, days after she was reported missing, according to the New York Post.
The pair, who chose to remain anonymous, told KVOA they found two black gloves about 10 feet apart near Campbell Avenue in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson on Feb. 11. The location is roughly a mile from the residence of the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie.
According to the couple, one glove appeared torn and had red discoloration resembling blood near the wrist and index finger. The second glove rested on a rock, beneath which they noticed what looked like a dried droplet of blood.
Concerned about disturbing potential evidence, they avoided touching the items. Instead, they photographed the scene and promptly contacted the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies arrived, interviewed the couple, and reportedly remained in the area until about 2 a.m., the outlet said.
Multiple gloves have been found in the neighborhood since Nancy disappeared on Jan. 31. Authorities previously indicated that some could resemble those worn by an armed, masked person seen outside her home that morning.
Officials have not confirmed whether the newly discovered gloves were taken into evidence. Investigators say several gloves are undergoing analysis, and DNA recovered so far does not match profiles in the Federal Bureau of Investigation database. No suspects have been publicly identified as the search continues.
