Confirmed, Why Sir Elton Is Done Touring
In 2023, Elton John announced he was retiring from touring after completing his “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” tour, which concluded in Stockholm, Sweden, in July of that year. Many fans wondered whether the farewell would truly be permanent.
Nearly a year later, he has reaffirmed that decision. In a recent interview, John confirmed he has no plans to return to life on the road.
According to OK Magazine, he explained that touring is no longer something he is willing to consider. Instead, he wants to prioritize his family life with his husband, David Furnish, and their two sons, Elijah and Zachary.
Furnish emphasized that their children are entering their teenage years, an important and formative stage. He noted that they want to be fully present and not miss these pivotal moments.
He also pointed out that John has spent roughly six decades performing and traveling, making this an appropriate time for the 77-year-old icon to slow down and enjoy being at home.
John himself reflected positively on ending his tour in Sweden. After the final show, he felt a deep sense of satisfaction, believing he had concluded his touring career on a high note with no desire to revisit it.
During that farewell concert, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans for supporting him over 52 years. While he insists large-scale tours are over, he acknowledged that occasional one-off performances remain a possibility.
