Antoine Forest identified as one of the Air Canada pilots killed in LaGuardia plane crash
He was raised in Coteau-du-Lac, Quebec, a boy captivated by aviation who spent his summers watching the skies and his winters improving his English to meet cockpit standards. Family members recall that he piloted his first aircraft at just 16 and remained dedicated to gaining flight hours, training, and certifications.
By December 2022, he had achieved his goal, becoming a first officer with Jazz Aviation, flying under Air Canada Express and finally realizing the ambition he had pursued for years.
That lifelong dream took a devastating turn on Sunday night at LaGuardia Airport.
Emergency crews were authorized to send a fire truck across the same runway where his aircraft had already been cleared to land.
Within moments, a tragic collision occurred, claiming the lives of two young pilots just beginning their careers.
Meanwhile, most of the roughly 70 passengers on board survived, suffering only minor injuries.
Authorities described the event as a deeply tragic incident, but for his family, it is an unbearable loss—a promising and cautious life ended too soon due to a fatal lapse in timing and coordination.
