Donald Trump says Iran gave him “a very big present” as he teases details
Donald Trump stated this week that the United States had received what he described as a “very large” and valuable “gift” from Iran, despite ongoing tensions. Speaking at the White House, he called it a positive development but did not reveal details.
He suggested the gesture was linked to oil and gas operations near the Strait of Hormuz, a key passage for global energy supplies. Trump described it as a major gain and a sign of progress in discussions.
According to Trump, the move indicated improved communication with Iranian officials. He also claimed Iran had agreed it would never develop nuclear weapons, presenting this as evidence that talks were moving in a favorable direction.
At the same time, he emphasized U.S. military strength in the region, arguing it was underestimated. He stated that American forces had significant freedom of operation, even referencing activity over Tehran.
Iranian officials strongly rejected these claims. A military spokesperson insisted operations would continue until victory, while others dismissed Trump’s statements about negotiations as false.
Earlier, Trump said planned U.S. strikes on Iranian infrastructure had been postponed. He attributed this decision to what he described as productive and detailed discussions between the two sides.
In a post on Truth Social, he expressed optimism and announced a five-day delay in military action, depending on continued progress. Despite this, both sides continue to present conflicting versions of events.
