Starbucks barista’s ‘secret message’ to customer completely backfires
Writing playful messages on coffee cups has become a popular trend in recent years, with baristas adding puns and cheerful notes to brighten customers’ days.
Phrases like “thanks a latte” or “have a brew-tiful day” are often seen as thoughtful touches that make the experience feel more personal and fun.
However, one customer had a very different reaction after receiving a message she found uncomfortable at a Starbucks location.
Twin sisters Ari and Noe Chance from Canada shared a TikTok video showing a cup with a modified warning label. The original text about a hot beverage had been altered to read, “Careful, you’re extremely hot.”
While the barista may have intended it as a compliment, one of the sisters said it made her feel embarrassed rather than flattered, adding that she didn’t plan to return.
The video quickly went viral, sparking mixed reactions. Some viewers found the message funny or harmless, while others considered it inappropriate or unprofessional.
There was also skepticism online, with some users suggesting the message might have been staged for attention, showing how divided opinions can be on viral trends like this.
