King Charles is ‘greatly shocked
King Charles III expressed deep sadness after a soldier from the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery died following a tragic accident at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.
The incident happened on Friday evening shortly after the military rider had completed a performance in front of the King and exited the arena. Reports say the rider fell from the horse at around 7pm.
Emergency personnel immediately treated the soldier at the scene, but the injuries proved fatal. Thames Valley Police confirmed that the death is currently being treated as unexplained but not suspicious.
A spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said the King was “greatly shocked and saddened” by the tragedy and planned to personally send condolences to the soldier’s family.
Although members of the Royal Family were present during the event, palace officials stated they were not immediately aware of how serious the accident was at the time it occurred.
Organizers confirmed the horse show would continue as scheduled, though performances by the King’s Troop were removed from the program out of respect following the incident.
The event also featured appearances from Lady Louise Windsor, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, and other royals attending the long-running equestrian gathering, which remains one of the most popular events connected to the Royal Family.
