Lost Hiker Ignored Rescuers’ Calls From Unknown Number
A hiker in Colorado became the center of an unusual rescue story after ignoring repeated calls from search teams.
The man went missing while hiking on Mount Elbert, the highest mountain in Colorado. When he did not return as expected, search and rescue workers began looking for him.
Teams tried to reach him several times by phone, text, and voicemail. However, the hiker did not answer because the calls came from an unknown number.
Rescuers searched high-probability areas through the night but could not find him. The next morning, the man returned safely to his lodging after spending about 24 hours lost.
He later said he had no idea anyone was searching for him.
Officials used the incident to remind hikers to answer repeated calls when they are overdue or lost. In an emergency, an unknown number may be someone trying to help.
