Beloved actor dies at 37 after being shot in Los Angeles

Tributes continue to pour in for General Hospital star Johnny Wactor, who was tragically killed in Los Angeles on Saturday morning at age 37. Wactor was shot while protecting a coworker from thieves attempting to steal his catalytic converter.

Around 3:25 a.m., after finishing a shift at a rooftop bar, Wactor was walking his coworker to her car when he spotted three masked men near his vehicle. His brother Grant told Daily Mail, “We’re Southern by birth and blood, and we would never let a woman walk to her car alone.”

Believing his car was being towed, Wactor approached, only to be confronted by an armed man. He stepped aside to shield his coworker and was fatally shot.

The LAPD is still searching for the suspects.

Fans and colleagues honored Wactor, best known as Brando Corbin on General Hospital. Co-star William deVry called the loss “senseless,” writing, “There are no words to describe how pointless this is.”
